This book provides a broad as well as in-depth discussion of various topics, facets, and dynamics of both intraregional dialogues in Asia and Europe, and interregional dialogues between Asia and Europe. Starting with theoretical and methodological reflections on regionalization and interregionalism (part I), the discussion then examines the patterns of relations (part II), before it addresses specific aspects and challenges in Asia and Europe as well as between both regions (part III).

By bringing together scholars from Asia and Europe, this volume explores the chances and possible limits in regionalization processes and in interregional cooperation, and shows that - despite existing difficulties - Europe and Asia have a broad common agenda of issues to follow and solve.

This publication is the sixth volume of the book series from the research and cooperation project EU - Network of European Studies Centres in Asia (NESCA): A Research Dialogue, funded within the 6th Framework Programme of the European Commission. Dr. José Luis de Sales Marques is President of the Institute of European Studies of Macau, S.A.R Macau, China. Prof. Dr. Reimund Seidelmann is Professor for International Relations and Foreign Policy Studies at Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen, Germany and at Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. He is Coordinator of EU-NESCA. Prof. Dr. Andreas Vasilache is Associate Professor for European Studies at the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Bielefeld, Germany and Director of the Centre for German and European Studies (CGES) at the State University of St. Petersburg, Russia. He is Junior-Coordinator and Executive Director of EU-NESCA.
