Behinderung – Literatur – Kultur | Disability – Literature – Culture
Die literarische, kulturelle und ästhetische Verhandlung menschlicher Figurationen und Lebenswelten um Achsen wie ›normal‹/›abweichend‹, ›funktional‹/›dysfunktional‹ oder ›behindert‹/›nichtbehindert‹ gehört zu den grundlegenden Praktiken gesellschaftlicher Selbstverständigung. Literarische Texte produzieren und archivieren Wissensbestände im Raum der begrifflichen Einheit der Differenz von dis/ability und geben ihnen ästhetischen Ausdruck. Orientiert an theoretisch avancierten Modellen und Zugängen bemühen sich die Literary Disability Studies um eine wissenschaftlich adäquate Rekonstruktion von dis/ability in der Literatur, im literarischen Feld und im kulturellen Leben allgemein. Die Reihe „Behinderung – Literatur – Kultur" gibt diesen Forschungen Raum. Literaturwissenschaftliche Perspektiven, ergänzt um kunstgeschichtliche, medien- und kulturwissenschaftliche Beiträge, stehen im Zentrum.

Literary texts produce and archive knowledge in the sphere of the conceptual unity of the difference between ability and disability and lend it aesthetic expression. Based on advanced theoretical models and approaches, the field of literary disability studies strives for an appropriate scholarly reconstruction of disability and ability in literature, the field of literature and cultural life in general. The series of publications entitled "Behinderung – Literatur – Kultur" ("Disability—Literature—Culture") provides a forum for such research. It focuses on literary studies perspectives supplemented by contributions from the fields of the history of art, media studies and cultural studies.
