Die Schriftenreihe deckt das ganze Spektrum politikwissenschaftlicher Untersuchungen zur lokalen Ebene ab. Hierzu zählen sowohl Analysen aus dem Bereich der politischen Prozesse in der Kommunalpolitik (politics), die Betrachtung von Inhalten lokaler Politik (policies) als auch die Beschäftigung mit den institutionellen Gegebenheiten lokaler Politik (polity). Zudem soll die Reihe ein Forum bieten für die Debatte um die Generalisierbarkeit von Befunden aus der lokalen Politikforschung und für die Übertragbarkeit von Erklärungsansätzen auf lokale Politik.
Schließlich sind Beiträge willkommen, die sich der Bedeutung der lokalen Ebene in modernen Mehrebenensystemen sowie den Interaktionen zwischen den Ebenen widmen.

This series of publications covers the entire spectrum of academic research into politics on a local level, which includes studies that analyse political processes in local politics, those that examine the contents of policies used in local politics and also those which address the institutional conditions of local polity. Moreover, this series is also intended as a forum for debate on the generalisability of the findings of research into local politics and for the transferability of approaches to explaining local politics.
Finally, this series welcomes contributions that focus on both the importance of local politics in modern multilevel systems and the interaction between the levels such systems consist of.
