Internationale Außenpolitik entsteht aus dem Mit- und Gegeneinander nationaler Außenpolitiken; die Charakteristika der Ordnung hängen dementsprechend davon ab, was Staaten außenpolitisch aus ihr machen. Die Schriftenreihe „Außenpolitik und Internationale Ordnung“ publiziert Untersuchungen zur Außenpolitik einzelner Staaten und der Europäischen Union sowie vergleichende Studien. Dabei geht es insbesondere um zwei grundsätzliche Anliegen: Zum einen vertiefen und verbreitern einführende Gesamtdarstellungen das Verständnis für die Außenpolitik wichtiger Staaten. Zum anderen geht es um spezifische Aspekte nationaler bzw. europäischer Außenpolitiken, die für die Zukunftsentwicklung der internationalen Ordnung von besonderer Bedeutung sind.


International foreign policy results from national foreign policies cooperating and clashing with each other. Accordingly, the characteristics of international order depend heavily on how states conduct their foreign affairs. The collection of publications entitled “Außenpolitik und Internationale Ordnung” (Foreign Policy and International Order) contains studies on the foreign policy of both individual states and the European Union as well as comparative studies, all of which have two fundamental concerns: on the one hand to broaden and deepen our understanding of important states’ approaches to foreign policy through introductory overviews, and on the other hand to examine specific aspects of national or European foreign policy which are of particular importance for the future development of international order.
