Der Schwerpunkt der Reihe liegt zum einen auf Arbeiten, die sich mit einer soziologischen Fragestellung in ihrem gesellschaftlichen und historischen Kontext befassen, und zum anderen auf Arbeiten, die die soziologische Theorie und ihre Geschichte behandeln. Dabei geht es sowohl um den institutionellen Rahmen, in dem die soziologische Theorie und die empirische Forschung stehen, als auch um den Einfluss, den die Soziologie auf die Wahrnehmung und Deutung gesellschaftlicher Zusammenhänge und Entwicklungen in anderen Wissenschaften und in sozialen Praxisfeldern hat. Die Reihe wendet sich nicht nur an Soziologen, sondern auch an soziologisch interessierte Wirtschaftswissenschaftler und Historiker.

On the one hand, this series places an emphasis on studies that consider sociological issues within their social and historical context and, on the other, with works that deal with sociological theory and its history. This does not only involve them examining the institutional framework within which sociological theory and empirical research exist, but also the influence that sociology can exert on how societal relationships and developments are perceived and interpreted in other academic disciplines and fields of practice in society. This series will not only appeal to sociologists, but also to economists and historians who take an interest in sociology.
