Die Schriftenreihe lädt ein zu einem interdisziplinären Austausch über den gesellschaftlichen Umgang mit allen Formen des Drogenkonsums. Sie beinhaltet sowohl Studien zu gesellschaftlichen Kontroll- und Regulierungskonzepten bezüglich des Umgangs mit und des Zugangs zu Drogen als auch Studien zu epidemiologischen, beraterisch-therapeutischen, pharmakologischen Fragen und Selbstkontrollkonzepten. Interdisziplinarität bedeutet auch, dass historische, medizinische, psychiatrische, sozialarbeiterische und pharmakologische Sichtweisen zu Wort kommen, um Drogenkonsum und -abhängigkeit in all seinen bio-psycho-sozialen Dimensionen verstehen zu können.
Dabei soll eine selbstkritische, d.h. nichtstigmatisierende und nichtpräjudizierende Position eingenommen werden, die Drogenkonsum als menschliche Konstante versteht, die historisch, interkulturell, international, aber auch intranational verschiedene Ausprägungsformen annehmen kann.

This series of publications facilitates interdisciplinary exchange on how society addresses all forms of drug consumption. Not only does it contain studies on societal concepts of monitoring and regulating how drugs are both dealt with and accessed, but also those which address epidemiological and pharmacological issues, questions relating to advice about drugs and drugs therapy, and ideas for self-regulation. Interdisciplinarity also means that the series incorporates historical, medical, psychiatric, social work and pharmacological perspectives in order to make all the biological, psychological and social facets of drug consumption and drug addiction understandable.
In addition, the series endeavours to adopt a self-critical position towards its subject, that is, one which avoids stigmatisation and prejudice, which understands drug consumption as a constant in humanity that can assume various forms of expression historically, interculturally, internationally and intra-nationally.
