englischThe book is concerned with Big Data against the background of digital transformation, and with the related analytics and practical uses. Examples are its influence on attitudes and behaviours, the development of innovative business models, the controlling of vital infrastructures, the evolution of science, predictive policing, cybercrime etc. The law, such as German and European data protection law as well as antitrust law, is not sufficiently attuned to the specific problems of Big Data. The dissolution of borders, concentration of market power, intransparencies etc. complicate legal protection. New or modified forms of regulatory design and control, among them also modifications of data protection law, protection of transparency and imputability, the expansion of systemic protection, extended impact assessment, legal enclosure of self-regulations and various other measures are needed.
