englischThis book advances our understanding of binational tandem leadership in international joint ventures (IJVs). The author examines division of roles in pairs of binational middle managers jointly leading Sino–German joint ventures as well as contextual effects on the division of their roles. Through an interpretive multiple case study, this research shows that pairs of binational managers divide their roles according to different focuses and strive for role complementarity. Furthermore, this study reveals the influences exerted by managers’ countries of origin and the organisational contexts of IJVs on role division. It also identifies opportunities and risks associated with the use of this leadership model. The author’s field of research is intercultural management.
Dieses Buch fördert das Verständnis der bislang kaum beachteten binationalen Tandemführung in internationalen Joint Ventures (IJV). Die Autorin untersucht die Rollenaufteilungen in binationalen Tandems auf der mittleren Führungsebene sowie die kontextuellen Einflüsse auf diese. Durch eine interpretative Mehrfallstudie in drei deutsch-chinesischen Joint Ventures zeigt sie, dass Tandems die Rollen des mittleren Managements nach Schwerpunkten aufteilen und Rollenkomplementarität anstreben. Sie zeigt zudem Einflüsse nationaler Kontexte der Herkunftsländer und organisationaler Kontexte von IJVs auf die Rollenaufteilungen auf. Überdies analysiert sie die mit dem Einsatz dieses Führungsmodells verbundenen Chancen und Risiken.
