This textbook, now in its fourth, completely updated edition, deals with the most important political institutions and actors in the Swiss political system, subjects them to an international comparison and reveals the considerable changes in Swiss politics over the last 20 years. It places special emphasis on presenting the workings and effects of the institutions that are typical of Switzerland, such as the direct democratic people's rights, the broadly supported concordance government and the diverse federal institutions.
