englischEmployment Law and Social Security Law contribute to whether and how a person may effectively self-determine her or his own occupational biography. Enforcing the right to an autonomous occupational biography has become all the more urgent with the continuing differentiation of life careers. The law will have to provide for synchronicity of and transition between employment, private child and home care as well as qualification or health-related adjustments.

The authors therefore state that employees should have legal rights that provide for transfers. The law will also have to reduce risks for decent living and working conditions as well as loss of rights and social security that may arise in transitional periods. In view of this, the book offers a comprehensive analysis of existing legal instruments in German Employment and Social Security Law. The authors reveal the potential of these instruments to be advanced as general models for legislation and develop modules for future regulation.
