englischThe sports leadership of the GDR methodically used Doping on its (mostly underage) athletes in order to demonstrate systemic superiority over "the West". Around 8,000 to 10,000 athletes are said to have been involved in the state doping program. The peak period in this respect was from 1974 to 1989. The federal German courts considered that Doping after the fall of the Iron Curtain as an intentional bodily harm. A legal analysis following the conclusion of the criminal proceedings in the early 2000s has so far only taken place in rudimentary form in jurisprudence. The author closes this research gap with her doctoral thesis.
