In the contributions it contains, which examine issues at the points where the humanities, cultural studies and the social sciences overlap, the diversity of critical and reflective analysis becomes clear, which in particular makes Europe’s cultural profile visible. They encourage discussion on the guiding principles of European integration, but above all on an image of Europe in which Europeanisation is understood as a process of permanent opening. Accordingly, Europeanisation is not simply the product of national conceptualisations, but focuses on the roots and elements of European common ground. This volume sets new standards in future research on Europe and puts them forward for discussion.
Der Sammelband erweitert die Perspektiven europawissenschaftlicher Forschung. In den Beiträgen, die an den Schnittstellen zwischen den Geistes-, Kultur- und Sozialwissenschaften angesiedelt sind, wird die Vielfalt kritisch-reflexiver Analyse deutlich, die im Besonderen das kulturelle Profil Europas sichtbar macht. Sie regen zur Diskussion über Leitbilder der europäischen Integration, vor allem aber über ein Europabild an, in dem Europäisierung als Prozess einer permanenten Öffnung verstanden wird. Europäisierung ist dementsprechend eben nicht das einfache Produkt nationaler Konzeptualisierungen, sondern stellt die Wurzeln und Elemente europäischer Gemeinsamkeit in den Vordergrund. Durch diesen Band werden neue Maßstäbe in der zukünftigen Europaforschung gesetzt und zur Diskussion gestellt.
