englischTo better understand Habermas’ post-metaphysical paradigm of communication, following his discussions from Kant to Hegel, Husserl and Mead, this study draws on different sources: metalogics of communication, theory of social action and ethics of discourse. The intersubjectivity claim serves to rethink the foundations of normativity in genuine social terms. Thus, Habermas implements what various philosophers in the wake of the hermeneutic-linguistic-pragmatic turn could not achieve. However, his approach ultimately fails to render his conceptual efforts sufficiently intelligible. This study pivots on trying to make essential headway in this regard by spelling out the conceptual presuppositions implicit in his rationality claims and by finding cogent ways of reconstructing them according to Peirce’ theory of categories and triadic logic of relations. What is offered is both the “deduction” and interpretation of the form of intersubjectivity as the basic relation of communicative action.
