englischComputer games have become a permanent part of our cultural landscape, with the computer games industry forming an integral part of Germany’s cultural and creative economy. This study addresses the debate on current trends in the field of gaming and examines various forms of monetisation in this regard. In doing so, it provides a detailed insight into economic structures, such as in-game shops, pay-to-win mechanisms and elements similar to gambling. The results of this analysis offer points of reference for computer game suppliers and those involved in the practice of media education and the protection of young people from harmful media.
