englischRegional initiatives in industrial and regional politics have a long tradition in Germany. This book starts by looking back at those initiatives in the 1980s and 1990s and reflects on the recent discussion about new strategies in industrial politics. After this, the authors provide a comprehensive overview of trade union-driven regional industrial politics. Deeper insights result from 15 case studies, which make the broad range of activities driven by trade unions more concrete. Day-to-day activities in regional networks, regional development concepts, new strategies in innovation politics and strategies to implement energy change, electro mobility or industries 4.0 are prominent areas of activities. Based on a SWOT-analysis, the book concludes with a discussion of determining factors and background aspects of trade unions in regional industrial politics.
