englischAt first glance, originals, copies and forgeries seem to be clearly separated from each other. On closer inspection, however, the field of referring and adopting artistic practices turns out to be just as differentiated as the ways in which images and artefacts are used. It is less a matter of object properties than of alleged connections of origin, the evaluation of which is, however, subject to cultural as well as temporal change. At the same time, the type of question addressed to an artefact is decisive for a classification. Different disciplines therefore follow different linguistic usage, which is explored in this volume from the perspectives of art history and philosophy, law and sociology - with the aim of working on a common language and interdisciplinary understanding.
