englischThe Grundstückverkehrsgesetz (law of real estate transactions) provides the legal framework for the transfer of agricultural land plots. Against the background of increased purchase prices on the agricultural land market, concentration processes in agriculture and an increasing demand from non-agricultural investors, the legal framework for real estate transactions has become the focus of legal policy debate. At the same time, the regulation of agricultural real estate transactions has increasingly moved into the focus of European jurisdiction.

The dissertation takes up these developments by, for the first time, systematically examining the compatibility of the existing legal framework with fundamental freedoms and state aid law, and by analysing and developing reform proposals for dealing with conflicts on the land market, including European law and constitutional requirements, as a suggestion for the design of the de lege ferenda Grundstückverkehrsgesetz.
