When one thinks of succession, the task of giving a company into the best hands is regularly one of the major entrepreneurial challenges. Due to the German economy, which is particularly characterised by entrepreneurship, successful successions are also decisive for the social prosperity of the country. However, studies indicate that about half of the upcoming company successions lack a (suitable) successor. Instead of selling, which does regularly not correspond to the continuing entrepreneurial interest of the owner, a foundation can take over the successor position and thus secure the existence of the company.
Der Ratgeber zeigt, wie (Familien-)Unternehmen jenseits von Vererbung oder Verkauf durch Einsatz einer Stiftung im Unternehmersinne fortgeführt werden können. Er versteht sich als Denkanstoß hinsichtlich der Gestaltung einer Unternehmensnachfolge unter Einsatz von Stiftungen und als Hilfsmittel für deren Durchführung. Denn ein Unternehmen bei der Nachfolge in die besten Hände zu geben, ist regelmäßig eine der größeren unternehmerischen Herausforderungen. Aufgrund der in besonderem Maße durch Unternehmertum geprägten deutschen Wirtschaft sind gelungene Nachfolgen darüber hinaus entscheidend für den gesellschaftlichen Wohlstand des Landes. Studien besagen jedoch, dass in etwa der Hälfte der anstehenden Unternehmensnachfolgen eine (geeignete) Nachfolgerschaft fehlt. Anstatt in solchen Fällen zu verkaufen, was regelmäßig nicht dem auf Fortführung gerichteten Unternehmerinteresse entspricht, kann eine Stiftung die Nachfolgeposition übernehmen und so den Bestand des Unternehmens sichern.
