englischThe bomb attacks in 1967, which at last had a massive negative impact on the already sensitive Austrian-Italian relations at the time, are considered to represent the peak of the conflict in South Tyrol. The forty-fifth anniversary of these events was taken as opportunity to discuss the history and the present situation of the autonomous region with international experts at a conference at the Andrássy University Budapest. The focus of the conference was the transition of South Tyrol from an inter-European conflict case to a role model of peaceful conflict settlement and sustainable implementation of minority rights. The current edition, consisting of the papers presented at the conference, thematises the historical, political and societal aspects of the conflict and demonstrates perspectives of the region’s future developments.

Die Bombenattentate des Jahres 1967, die nicht zuletzt die österreichisch-italienischen Beziehungen massiv beeinträchtigten, gelten bis heute als Höhepunkt des Südtirolkonflikts. Die 45. Wiederkehr der Ereignisse wurde von der Andrássy Universität Budapest zum Anlass genommen, Geschichte und Gegenwart der autonomen Region mit internationalen ExpertInnen im Rahmen einer Konferenz zu diskutieren. Im Mittelpunkt stand dabei die Entwicklung Südtirols von einer inter-europäischen Konfliktzone hin zu einem Musterbeispiel für friedliche Konfliktbeilegung und nachhaltige Minderheitenpolitik. Der vorliegende Band, der die Beiträge der TagungsteilnehmerInnen enthält, thematisiert die historischen, politischen und gesellschaftlichen Aspekte des Konflikts und zeigt Perspektiven für die zukünftige Entwicklung des Landes auf.
