englischIn this book, Kateryna Yarmolyuk-Kröck examines the implementation and application of international law in Ukraine. In particular, the analysis is centered on the occupational safety and health (OSH) instruments of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) as well as the European Union (EU) OSH directives and their conformity with national legal provisions. The book offers a thorough assessment of the ongoing legal reforms in Ukraine in the process of European integration and the legal nature of the EU-Ukraine relationship, including Ukraine’s obligation to bring its national legislation in line with the EU acquis communautaire under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement of 2014. Further, the author assesses the role and scope of labour inspection under the national legislation and the ILO instruments and the practice of the Ukrainian judiciary in the application of international standards. This study thus contributes to ongoing discussion on the implementation of international law into national legislation, the effective application of international standards by domestic courts, and the extension of the influence of the EU law on the legislation of non-Member States.
