englischThe works included in these conference proceedings study to what extent the integration of East Central European countries into the European single market has resulted in competition between company law systems. In doing so, they examine both the role of existing Member States as ‘suppliers’ and that of companies as ‘buyers’. This book, containing contributions from experts in law and economics, broadens the scope of existing research into this field, which has tended to focus on the old EU Member States until now. The finding which binds all this research is that each region’s legislators also consider their country’s corporate legislation to be a significant factor when competing with other countries to attract businesses to their region. What remains uncertain, however, is the importance which the companies themselves attach to a country’s legal structures. This book’s editors, Prof Dr Martina Eckardt and Prof Dr Christian Schubel, are both founding members of the interdisciplinary research centre for law and economics at Andrássy University in Budapest.
