Der (un)erkannte Gott

How can the one and absolute God be recognised at all? What kind of realisation is thereby involved? What does it mean to think of God beyond the established theological systems in Islam? These and many other questions are addressed in this work, in which the mystical theology of ʿAbd al-Ǧabbār an-Niffarī (d. 965), a wandering Sufi from present-day Iraq, is systematically and critically presented in German for the first time. It also examines the extent to which an-Niffarī represents both a challenge and an opportunity for contemporary Islamic theology.
