Komponierte Perspektive

Perspectivity as a delight in playing with different modes of perception can be understood as a characteristic feature of Richard Strauss's music theater. Such musical perspectives are not to be understood as mere technique or method, but rather form an aesthetic guiding principle, an artistic program of “Straussian modernism.” This study focuses on how the composer understands it to diversify the action on stage, allowing certain characters to become filters of perception on the one hand, while on the other composing the stage space itself in different ways.
