englischThe Iranian philosopher Mullā Hādī Sabziwārī (d. c. 1872) belonged to the intellectual school of Mullā Ṣadrā (d. 1640), who dealt with the transcendental philosophy of being as part of his worldview. This volume is about Sabziwārī's engagement with the concept of the “rational soul” (the so-called nafs-i nāṭiqa). The mind-body problem and the idea of the substantial movement of the soul are also illuminated. The nafs-i nāṭiqa is a specific characteristic of human beings, and through its highest development a connection to the divine is established. For Sabziwārī, this connection is a desirable state and the proper task of every human being in this world.
