englischElectoral success of the two main German parties CDU and SPD and their status as catch-all-parties is threatened by the decline of party affiliations and volatile voting behaviour. This development fosters the need for them to address and win over new voters. Therefore the steadily increasing number of German citizens with an immigrant background has awoken some belated attention. This book systematically analyses the strategies, with which both parties intend to address migrants and incorporate them into their party structures.

This study offers a comprehensive empirical examination of strategic means aimed at winning supporters from migrants as a social target group - exclusively from a party perspective. These strategic means range from different strategic access options to policy issues, member activation and recruitment as well as measures to increase the migrant representation in the party structures and parliaments.
