englischTo what extent do the parties of the German Bundestag communicate on Facebook about topics relevant to society as a whole and what reactions do recipients show in a comparison of topics and parties? The authors Ennenbach and Lorenz address this question in their work and examine nearly 3,500 Facebook posts by the Bundestag parties from 2019.

One key finding: the parties of the 'Grosse Koalition' predominantly fail to address the socially relevant issues in Germany when communicating through Facebook. In a comparison of parties, the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) stands out: it communicates the relevant topics with the highest frequency and thus achieves the greatest success - measured in terms of engagement and interaction rate.
