englischIn this book, using an interdisciplinary approach, Nino Osepashvili describes how processes of translating literature in Georgia in the early 20th century contributed to the manifestation of a national identity. By means of a combination of approaches from translation studies, the social sciences and political history, the author reveals how Georgia’s ‘border location’ between Europe and Asia influenced its literature. She examines the translation processes from both the micro and the macro perspective. Using Polysystem theory, she analyses the European context from the macro perspective and addresses the literary and political processes within Georgia from the perspective of Microsociology.
