In the German-speaking world, Heinrich Reinermann is one of the most influential scholars in the domains of public information systems and public management. His scientific work in these fields, which he covered in an uncompromisingly practical spirit for almost half a century, testifies to the breadth and depth of public administration science.

With 22 contributions from his academic companions, this festschrift is intended to honour the life and work of Heinrich Reinermann on his 80th birthday. They deal with the scope of scientific endeavours in the field of information systems, present various perspectives on public administration science and examine the contribution of digitisation to the modernisation of the public sector.
