englischIn 1667, Johann Amos Comenius wrote the memorandum Angelus Pacis against the backdrop of Anglo-Dutch peace negotiations in Breda. Unlike his pedagogical works, this writing has received little attention to date, even though Comenius' comments on peace ethics seem more relevant than ever today. Angelus Pacis integrates legal, rational-motivational and teleological-historical aspects of the peace process, which is why it is not only interesting from a religious perspective, but can also be used to analyse the traditional prevailing theories of legal philosophy and peace ethics.

The contributions originate from an international workshop led by Prof Dr Jean-Christophe Merle and Dr Anna Szyrwińska-Hörig.
