englischEric Voegelin’s interpretation of the ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche constitutes an important part of Voegelins critique of modernity; the development of Voegelin’s thought is persued here in order to explain his interpretation of Nietzsche. The book is structured in three parts: 1) the early period of Voegelins thought, including Nietzsche’s idea of nihilism; 2) the important middle period, and 3) the late period of Voegelin’s Nietzsche-reception. Throughout Voegelin’s reading of the philosopher not only the position of Nietzsche towards the beyond plays an important role, but also that of philosophical anthropology.
