englischThe speculative force of metaphysical thought has traditionally been based upon the assumption that language, thought and reality are thematically interwoven.

Linguistic environments admittedly predetermine philosophical thought; the same shall apply to metaphysics, which will leave some of their crucial (and traditionally unproblematic) assumptions to be queried.

There is no alternative but to accept that metaphysics – like any other domain – need be exposed to adjustment and revision. Thus the concept of a "first philosophy" is likely to become obsolete, quite contrary to the notion of metaphysics as a philosophical branch that commits itself to determine man’s perception of reality by striving to detect its most common and general aspects.
