englischThis book provides a new critical edition with Italian translation of the pseudo-Platonic Horoi (Definitions), accompanied by a substantive introduction and commentary. Despite the relatively limited attention the Horoi has received in the scholarship, the study brings out the value of this text as a Middle Platonist work, affording fascinating insights into ways of reading Plato in the Imperial Age. The critical edition is based on the most thorough examination of the Horoi’s manuscript tradition to date.

Edoardo Benati holds a PhD in Classics from the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa. He is interested in Plato, the Pseudoplatonica, and the Early Academy.
