englischIslamist groups popularity and their success at the ballot boxes in Arab Spring have strikingly underlined their importance and their role as ‘big players‘ in Egypt‘s political system. When Arab Spring arose the groups examined in this book, namely the Daᶜwa Salafiyya, the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood und the Wasaṭ Party, had the option to participate in political decision making and implement their vision of governance for the first time in their history. The diverging visions of Islamic (democratic) political governance of the three groups are being thoroughly compared in this thesis by the use of interdisciplinary methods.
