englischIn previous research on Islamic education, the students’ perspective has been largely neglected. Against this background, this study examines the religious attitudes of Muslim children and adolescents with regard to the potential of Islamic education in schools. It shows how Muslim students position themselves religiously and how they assess their basic knowledge and their ability to reflect. In addition, the author examines to what extent Islamic education offers a framework for their needs in life, how the students position themselves culturally and religiously, how they deal with conflict situations and experiences of exclusion, and what attitudes exist in dealing with diversity.
