englischAgainst the backdrop of normative theory, media-stimulated interpersonal communication is a highly desirable form of behaviour because discussions about media content refer to processed issues and opinions, thus promoting the elaboration of public opinions. However, the causes of media-stimulated interpersonal communication remain predominantly unclear.

Departing from research on news values and media quality, this work conceptualises discussion factors such as media content characteristics that indicate relevance, quality and, hence, communicatory utility. In this book, an online diary study is applied in order to ascertain how receiving such discussion factors promotes media-stimulated interpersonal communication.

This work provides media effects research with new points of departure. It adds the perspective of media quality to established explanatory approaches and takes into account the consequences of a changing media environment, which affects both content and channels of media-stimulated interpersonal communication.

»Insgesamt liegt ein inspirierender Band zur Anschlusskommunikation vor, der eine große Fundgrube zu vielen Detailfragen rund um das Thema darstellt.«
