englischMobile applications, abbreviated as 'apps', play a key role in lots of different areas of life, and as a result of the increasing importance of apps in society and the economy, they have to be examined from a legal perspective.

This study discusses legal questions of practical importance which arise from the distribution of apps. As apps are highly complex, the study describes their technical background first and then analyses the lawfulness of the most popular methods of app-marketing. Furthermore, it examines whether and to what extend the implementation of fee-based content and advertising in apps is legal.
