englischThe speed and extent of the digital revolution in the working world is challenging academics in the field of employment law to fundamentally rethink the normative framework of gainful employment. Increased digital networking in work processes has led to new organisational and value chains, whose frameworks also have to be guaranteed through employment law protection mechanisms, emerging almost daily. Mobile devices and cloud-based solutions are demanding a balance between desires for flexibility and health risks, while the lines between self-determined utilisation of labour and state protection of employees have become blurred. Technical health and safety measures, which previously above all served to protect employees from danger to life and limb, have increasingly come into conflict with issues relating to employee data protection and thus those relating to the protection of personal privacy. The contributions to these transcripts from the 9th conference on employment law for assistant lecturers, which took place in Berlin from 25th to 27th July 2019, focus on these and other challenges the digitalised working world is currently facing.
