englischDigital platforms like Amazon routinely provide their users with conflict resolution mechanisms for transactions mediated by the platforms. Through these proprietary mechanisms, platforms influence contractual relationships they are not part of. Using specific examples like the Amazon A-to-Z Guarantee, this paper delves into the legitimacy of this influence and assesses the extent to which digital platforms must adhere to regulatory requirements in the context of alternative dispute resolution law, both presently (de lege lata) and potentially in the future (de lege ferenda), while taking economic characteristics of digital platforms into consideration.
