englischThis book ist he first complete presentation oft he Roman Citizenship from the beginning of the Republic until the end of Antiquity written by a Roman Lawyer. All the presuppositions leading to the acquisition oft he citizenship as descent, manumissions and aquisitions. All kinds of conferment of the citizenship are depicted following the historical process. Above all migration played an important role in this context. All the legal and literary texts were interpreted in a completly new way and many passages from Cicero’s speaches on citizenship were translated anew. Particular attention was dedicated to the structures of the Roman state and to the award oft he universal citizenship through the Constitutio Antoniniana in the year 212 AD. The stratification of the Roman citizenship could serve as a modelt to the actual European Union.
