englischThe "Civil Code of the People's Republic of China" (CCP) was adopted on May 28, 2020, came into force on January 1, 2021, and is the first coherent codification of civil law in the history of the People's Republic of China. Thus, this new code is seen as a groundbreaking step towards eliminating the previously existing patchwork of single statutes. It is not only the subject of academic debate but also enjoys considerable attention in the press. Against this background, this book seeks to provide an overall structural assessment of this significant legislative change as well as the analysis of specific relevant practical issues entailed by the codification.
