englischThe direct settlement system in European antitrust law is more current than ever. Even the latest decisions of the European Commission prove clearly an increased claim of the direct settlement system and show thereby the future direction of the European antitrust law.

The author exposes initially in his thesis the structure and the process of the settlement procedure before he describes the parallels and distinctions to the "normal" antitrust suit including the interdependency to the leniency policy. He explains thereby not only the pros and cons of the procedure, but also examines particularly the impacts to the involved corporations. After a detailed analysis of the previous settlement decisions, the focus of the thesis is put on the problems which accompanies the settlement procedure and to which the author shows promising solutions and improvement opportunities.

&raquothis valuable and clearly written book provides a solid overwide of the law and legal implications of the Commission's settlement procedure.&laquo
