englischAs was the case with that of the preceding German legislation, the creation of the European ancillary copyright for press publishers regulated in Art. 15 of Directive (EU) 2019/790 was accompanied by an intensive debate. In particular, the legislator intended to preserve the viability of the publishing industry and to increase the economic attractiveness of the production of quality journalistic products. In view of this, this dissertation examines the regulation from an economic perspective. It focuses on the evaluation of the economic legitimation behind the introduction of the European ancillary copyright for press publishers.
