englischThe right of the child to know its own ancestry, which is recognized as an expression of the general right to protection of personality, is becoming increasingly important in light of progressive reproduction methods and the pluralization of family forms. The present right to determine lineal relations does not reflect this current development. The author elaborates her own reform proposals for the child's claims to information and declaration with regard to its genetic and biological origin – including current suggestions from academics, legal practitioners and legislation. Furthermore, she emphasizes interdisciplinary commonalities and connections; particularly focusing on psychosocial, sociological as well as medical and biological research. As a result, the thesis presents a sustainable regulatory framework for paternal and maternal descent that is open to further development.
