englischIn this study, the international law of naval blockade is presented. According to recent practice, the inquiry differs between the legal regimes of naval blockade in a context of international armed conflict and one in a non-international armed conflict. The reader learns the contemporary rules a State has to obey if it implements and enforces a naval blockade. In particluar, the neutral States’ impairments of their maritime and commercial freedoms are taken into account. Nevertheless, no State enjoys a right according to which neutral States have to follow the naval blockade. Rather, the legal relationships of the parties concerned are characterised by non-prohibited acts of international law.
