This is remarkable as the country's political system is otherwise characterised by its strong focus on the political power of the president and his government. Therefore, in this work, with the help of deliberative democracy theory, the author examines whether past French consultations in the field of sustainability can be seen as a reorientation of the country’s policymaking process, or whether the procedures were merely a symbolic participation policy on the part of the government.
Wie kann die Gesellschaft in der Nachhaltigkeitspolitik mit einbezogen werden? Frankreich hat versucht dieser Herausforderung mit partizipativen Willensbildungsverfahren zu begegnen. Dies ist bemerkenswert, da das politische System des Landes ansonsten durch seine starke Fokussierung des politischen Betriebes auf den Präsidenten und die Regierung zu charakterisieren ist. Daher untersucht der Autor in diesem Werk, unter Zuhilfenahme der deliberativen Demokratietheorie, ob die vergangenen französischen Konsultationsprozesse im Nachhaltigkeitsbereich als Neuausrichtung der Politikgestaltung gewertet werden können oder ob es sich bei den Verfahren lediglich um eine symbolische Beteiligungspolitik seitens der Regierung gehandelt hat.
