englischThe LkSG obliges certain companies to comply with appropriate due diligence requirements in their supply chains as of January 1, 2023. At the same time, numerous voluntary initiatives have been promoting such due diligence requirements for many years. Both due diligence concepts have their origins in the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. However, it remains open what impact voluntary initiatives, namely so-called multistakeholder initiatives, have or could have in the context of the LkSG.

Using the example of a multistakeholder initiative from the textile industry, the author identifies parallels between the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and voluntary initiatives and seeks ways to connect the two approaches.
