englischUpstream procedures of spatial planning have to gather evidence under complex circumstances. Their epistemologically precarious environment causes competition between the aims of ensuring feasibility on the one hand and reasonableness of means on the other. The doctoral thesis reconstructs a planning decision made by Germany’s Federal Network Agency, defining a corridor for a certain project of electrical grid expansion. This example is linked to several epistemological approaches which put up requirements concerning a successful justification of decisions. The author has worked as a scientific employee at the department of spatial planning (TU Dortmund University) and is now working for a German transmission system operator.
