englischThe embargo is an important instrument of foreign policy. Whereas the classical embargo is known as a prohibition of imports or exports, the modern embargo focuses on the individual actor. International terrorism has shown that security threats are no longer exclusively caused by states but by single actors. For this reason the financial freeze of their funds and other financial resources is indispensable. Domestic contractors must observe these extensive laws. The author explains how an embargo disrupts a civil law contract and how a breach of contract can be avoided by contractual provisions.
