englischIn the course of the thirteenth century rediscovery of Aristotelian philosophy, a fair number of concepts of political philosophy which are still in use today have re-entered everyday language. Despite their sometimes fragmentary character, Thomas Aquinas has left some texts which proved highly influential to political philosophy. Scattered across his extensive oeuvre, one will find ideas concerning just war, the concept of justice in general, the relation of secular and ecclesiastical government, punishment, and the principles of economy. In this volume, distinguished scholars throw light on these and further topics. In doing so, the contributors also focus on the impact, the anticipatory potential, and the contrast of these ideas to its modern counterparts.

With contributions by

Claus Dierksmeier, Gerhard Krieger, Dirk Lüddecke, Günther Mensching, Jürgen Miethke, Peter Nickl, Hanns-Gregor Nissing, Stefan Schick, Rolf Schönberger, Bernhard Stengel
