englischThe study examines whether the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) achieves the policy objectives postulated by the legislator. The EPPO began its operational work in mid-2021, this was classified as a "Copernican turn" in European criminal law. It is especially responsible for the investigation and prosecution of offences against the financial interests of the European Union. According to the explanatory memorandum, its establishment was mainly necessary because the criminal prosecution authorities of the Member States had previously inadequately prosecuted offences, for which the EPPO is responsible now. In order to assess whether the EPPO is more successful in fulfilling this task, the legal basis of the European Public Prosecutor's Office is presented and analysed.
